In His Due Time

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope everyone had a wonderful week and learned a lot... I know I sure did! This week was a little bit of a roller coaster ride... literally up and down and all over the place! We had so many amazing milagros that I don´t even know where to start. I LOVE working with Hermana Larsen. We were caught in a rainstorm this week and ended up singing broadway songs (with missionary lyrics) as we contacted in the rain. It was so fun! This transfer is really helping me to open my eyes and remember that YES, you are supposed to work hard in missionary work... every minute should be filled with hard work. BUT it should also be FUN and something we absolutely LOVE to do. It is something that President Dayton and I talk about a lot... finding Joy in the work every single day! I love it! Something Hermana Larsen and I always say to each other when we are walking out the door is, "do you have your chapa? Agenda? Libro de Mormon? keys? phone? AND... a Smile?? Ok, we are all set! Let´s keep on smiling and we will go baptize all of Spain together". I love it so much! Honestly being a missionary is just the most rewarding thing in the whole world! Obviously some days are harder than others, but in the end, all of the miracles outweigh the hard times to the point that you can only remember the happy moments and it motivates you to be and do better! I would challenge you all to look for the little pockets of joy in your day - smile more and try everyday to share the gospel with people and I promise that you will see miracles!!

Ok, so about this week... We had a baptism!! Well.... we were supposed to have a baptism. We had a lesson with our ADORABLE pregnant investigator from Dominican Republic... Yahaira. She has been taking the lessons for two years but now it really is her time to be baptized. This lesson that we had with her was on Wednesday and it was Hermana Larsen´s first visit with her. She had a fecha set for Sat Oct. 10th but we weren´t really sure if it would happen since we hadn´t seen her for about a week. We walked in (oh and we had our cute member from Arizona... Maryann... there with us too) and had this INCREDIBLE lesson about baptism. It wasn´t planned out completely because Hermana Larsen and I didn´t know what she exactly needed so we planned for a few different lessons, but the route that we actually ended up taking was even better than anything we could have planned. I know for a fact that it was 100% the spirit. We were sharing scriptures back a forth and testifying and sharing videos on the ipad and Maryann was sharing her thoughts and experiences and Yahaira´s whole face was just lit up with the Spirit the whole time! Then we finally started talking to her about her baptism at the end of the lesson and she goes, "no puedo! Este sabado es muy pronto. Necesito aprender mas sobre esta iglesia antes mi bautismo" (I can´t. This saturday is too soon. I need to learn more about this church before my baptism). That is when I was all the sudden prompted to share a scripture I had found in my personal study that morning...
2 Nefi 9:23. It talks about how we don´t need a perfect knowledge to be baptized... all we need is perfect faith. We reassured Yahaira that she has that perfect faith and then she said, "Son correcto. Quiero ser bautizada este Sábado. Que necesito hacer para preparar por eso?" (I want to get baptized this Saturday - what do I need to do  to prepare?) AHHHHH! We were so excited! I think my jaw literally dropped to the ground! We planned out her whole baptism with her right then and the spirit was so strong! Then she fed us food from Dominican Republic (which was incredible) and then we left! Hermana Larsen and I got out of the building and just stopped and stared at each other. That was such a huge miracle from Heavenly Father and we couldn´t believe it was really happening!! We hurried and called our District Leader and set up and interview with him for her and we called the whole ward to inform them that we would be having a baptism in 3 days! Everyone was so excited! She had her interview the next day and everything was working perfectly and she was so so so excited! Then the morning of the baptism came. We woke up SUPER early to go to the church and clean and fill up the font and when we got there we got a text from Yahaira saying, "my doctor said I need to wait until I have the baby because I could have him at any minute now" which is true... she is HUGE! I think if I touch her stomach she will literally POP! So we understood the text, but we still had faith that she would be baptized. We left the church and RAN to her house. We sat in front of her door knocking and calling for 30 minutes. Finally her husband came out and told us something happened with her baby and she had to go to the hospital SUPER early in the morning to make sure everything was ok. We left the building and walked back to the church pretty sad realizing we would have to cancel the baptism. We called the whole ward and all the missionaries to let them know. It was really really sad and really hard!! That´s my first baptism that has canceled the day of and let me tell you... it was not very fun. BUT the good news is that we saw her last night and she is still really excited to be baptized and still wants to be baptized but she just needs to wait until it is safe enough for her baby. Hermana Larsen and I learned a very important lesson from all of this. Yes, we are here to help others come unto Christ by leading them into the waters of baptism. But more importantly... we are here to do the father´s will. As we submit ourselves to His will and His timing we will be so much happier and everything will work out just how He needs it to. I know this is true with my whole heart and I
can´t wait for Yahaira´s baptism in a few weeks!

REALLY EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!!! ALEX´S WHOLE FAMILY NOW HAS FECHAS!!!!!!! They are all planning to get baptized on November 7th and they are all so excited! I can´t even wait! And the most incredible part is that Alex can baptize them! The lessons we have with them are always amazing and especially with Hermana Larsen here... I think she is just a little "good luck charm" for our area! I love working with her!

We had an incredible lesson last night with our cute little Brazilian, Adriane. She is 17 and ADORABLE!! We
haven´t seen her for about a month because she has been so busy, but we finally went to visit her last night. Her mom and sister weren´t there, but we sat with her and talked for an hour sharing the message of the restoration and she absolutely loved it! Alex came to help us teach her and he was able to share his conversion story about how he was baptized adventista just like Adriane was but now He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and he bore such a powerful testimony about how he knows it is true and couldn´t be happier! Adriane couldn´t stop smiling the whole time! When we challenged her to be baptized she was a little hesitant to accept at first because she has her own church but once Hermana Larsen and I again bore testimony of how we know this church is true she looked at us and said, "I want to learn about it and once I feel something in my heart then I want to be baptized too! Because you are all so happy and I want to be like you!" AW. It was the sweetest thing! The spirit was SO strong. Words honestly cannot describe this moment. I have never felt the spirit so strong in a lesson. This work is incredible! We are so incredibly blessed to have the knowledge of the gospel in our lives! Don´t ever take it for granted!! Share it with everyone you meet! We have been given this gospel in our lives and now it is our opportunity to go forth and share it with everyone we see because we are disciples of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Love you all,
Hermana Allie Eyring

PS We had a lesson with a family this week (members) and Sara (my best little friend who is 5) at the end of her prayer goes, "por favor bendice los peritos, gatos, y pajaritos en el mundo que todo de ellos pueden tener proteccion este noche".  It was about the cutest thing I have ever heard and I felt like I was right at home with Liza and Abby saying their bedtime prayers :)

We have a goal for "40 fecahs" for baptism in our zone for this week
