Come what may, and LOVE IT!

My wonderful family and friends,

What a week it was! It was full of lots of thinking about how and why we have certain things happen in our lives. On Tuesday night we realized that we really needed to do something about the lice. Soooo we all mayonaised our hair and wrapped it up in plastic wrap for the night. It was TERRIBLE! It smelled so bad! And the next morning we all woke up with pounding headaches!!! Everyone else´s went away within the hour but mine
wouldn´t stop pounding because my plastic wrap had been SO tight. That morning while we were picking through each other´s hair to get all the eggs out, the District Leader called and said, "we have to have an emergency transfer meeting - come to the church NOW!" Well we went. I felt SO sick and we litterally had lice coming out of our heads and our hair was still wet. (good times). We had the district meeting and the result was that we got all of our investigators and recent converts taken away from us (It´s kind of a long story but they were all about to get baptized...)... it was not a very fun meeting... but Hermana Larsen and I have done a lot of praying and we are ready to go find new investigators this week!

On Wednesday I couldn´t even walk because I was so so so sick. Something was wrong with my stomach and it had never hurt that bad before in my whole life and my head was still pounding. I've never liked being sick but I most definitely don´t like being sick on the mission!!! It is the hardest thing ever! I kept working on Wednesday because I haven´t had to stay in piso for a sick day yet on my mission and I didn´t want to start now. But by the afternoon Hermana Larsen was literally holding me up to try and walk with me in the streets... so we went home because we couldn´t get anything done.

I went to bed that night... but not really. I was up ALL night with a hurting stomach and pounding head. I woke up the next morning and couldn´t move so we called president and he said I should go to the Emergency room. We called Obispo and his sweet wife Angela to see if they could take us because they have a car. It was only 7:30 in the morning but they said, "yes. Of course we will be there in 15 minutes!" They came and spent the whole morning with us in the ER and then took us to the pharmacy to get medicine and then Obispò gave me a blessing and then Angela went home and took the list of foods I was allowed to eat to make me food! It was the sweetest thing! And they call every few hours to make sure I am ok! I love them so so much! The doctors didn´t really end up finding a whole lot but just said that I have a bad infection in my stomach. Well they were right... it was really really bad because I have been in piso for the past FIVE DAYS! Today is my first day back in the world and it is just lovely! I have really missed it :) Anyways, while I was sick I learned A LOT! A whole montón actually :) First.. I learned that being sick away from your madre is really really hard. But the members here have been like my family. They have been absolutely incredible! Right after Obispo and Anglea left our piso we had the mission leader, relief society president and members all call us telling us what time and day they would be bringing food by to make me feel better! It was so so sweet of them! And so many members were willing to go out a few times with my sweet companion to a few of our really important citas. I am so grateful for all of the members! I was especially grateful when Hermana Susana called and said, "what are both of your full names?" When we asked her why she said, "I am calling the temple right now so your names will both be on the prayer roll". I immediately started to cry because that is exactly what my dear mom would have done. I feel so blessed to be in an area where the members care so much about the missionaries and each other. The love for the gospel in this ward is very very evident and them serving me this week just shows how much they love their Savior Jesus Christ and are trying to be humble followers of him! I love them so much!

The second and most important thing I learned this week was "come what may and love it". I read Elder Wirthlin´s talk this week and encourage you all to read it! I forgot how much I love that talk! Here is a little bit of it with my favorite parts...

When I was young I loved playing sports, and I have many fond memories of those days. But not all of them are pleasant. I remember one day after my football team lost a tough game, I came home feeling discouraged. My mother was there. She listened to my sad story. She taught her children to trust in themselves and each other, not blame others for their misfortunes, and give their best effort in everything they attempted. When we fell down, she expected us to pick ourselves up and get going again. So the advice my mother gave to me then wasn’t altogether unexpected. It has stayed with me all my life.

“Joseph,” she said, “come what may, and love it.”

I have often reflected on that counsel.I think she may have meant that every life has peaks and shadows and times when it seems that the birds don’t sing and bells don’t ring. Yet in spite of discouragement and adversity, those who are happiest seem to have a way of learning from difficult times, becoming stronger, wiser, and happier as a result.

1. Learn to Laugh:
I remember when one of our daughters went on a blind date. She was all dressed up and waiting for her date to arrive when the doorbell rang. In walked a man who seemed a little old, but she tried to be polite. She introduced him to me and my wife and the other children; then she put on her coat and went out the door. We watched as she got into the car, but the car didn’t move. Eventually our daughter got out of the car and, red faced, ran back into the house. The man that she thought was her blind date had actually come to pick up another of our daughters who had agreed to be a babysitter for him and his wife.
We all had a good laugh over that. In fact, we couldn’t stop laughing. Later, when our daughter’s real blind date showed up, I couldn’t come out to meet him because I was still in the kitchen laughing. Now, I realize that our daughter could have felt humiliated and embarrassed. But she laughed with us, and as a result, we still laugh about it today.

2. Seek for the eternal:
“My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; “And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.”
With that eternal perspective, Joseph took comfort from these words, and so can we. Sometimes the very moments that seem to overcome us with suffering are those that will ultimately suffer us to overcome.

3. Principle of compensation:
The third thing we can do is understand the principle of compensation. The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude.

4. Trust in the father and in the son:
He who descended below all things will come to our aid. He will comfort and uphold us. He will strengthen us in our weakness and fortify us in our distress. He will make weak things become strong.
One of our daughters, after giving birth to a baby, became seriously ill. We prayed for her, administered to her, and supported her as best we could. We hoped she would receive a blessing of healing, but days turned into months, and months turned into years. At one point I told her that this affliction might be something she would have to struggle with the rest of her life.
One morning I remember pulling out a small card and threading it through my typewriter. Among the words that I typed for her were these: “The simple secret is this: put your trust in the Lord, do your best, then leave the rest to Him.”
She did put her trust in God. But her affliction did not disappear. For years she suffered, but in due course, the Lord blessed her, and eventually she returned to health.  Knowing this daughter, I believe that even if she had never found relief, yet she would have trusted in her Heavenly Father and “[left] the rest to Him.”

I know why there must be opposition in all things. Adversity, if handled correctly, can be a blessing in our lives. We can learn to love it. As we look for humor, seek for the eternal perspective, understand the principle of compensation, and draw near to our Heavenly Father, we can endure hardship and trial. We can say, as did my mother, “Come what may, and love it.”

I am so grateful for our inspired leaders of the church who constantly help us and remind us what is most important in life. This week was really hard. I am not going to lie. I wanted to be out and working and teaching people. But then I took a step back and realized that I need to practice what I preach and take care of my body because it truly is a gift from our Heavenly Father. I know that sometimes we all have hard times in life and we don´t understand why. But if we will choose to follow Elder Wirthlin´s counsel then I promise you that we will always be happier and ALWAYS see the blessings as we choose to say, "come what may and love it". I know Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us and it is absolutely perfect! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Service is a magic trick - LICE it or not!

Querido familia y amigos!

This week was absolutely incredible! I learned so much about service and mostly about charity. It was kind of the underlying theme of the whole week and all of my experiences. But the mission has LICE!!!! Oh no - so many missionaries are getting it - yikes!!!

On Tuesday we went to a cita with one of our investigators Brisa, she is 13 and came to church this past sunday with us and absolutely LOVED it!!! Her mom said she has never been happier or had the biggest smile on her face when she got home! I am so excited for her. Her baptism is scheduled for this coming weekend, but we will see if she is ready by then. Anyways, we had a cita with her. We went into her building and knocked on the door. Then coming down the stairs next to us was a cute lady with headphones in and looked like she was headed out for a run. We smiled at her and said, "hola, buenas" just like we do to everyone else we see. She immediately stopped, took out her headphones and said in spanish, "where are you from? I love your smiles and I need some friends here...can you speak spanish? Of course we told her.  We told her that we have clases de ingles every Wednesday and she said she wanted to come. We said a prayer with her, got her number, name and address and that was all in about 30 seconds because then Brisa opened the door. We said a prayer with all of them right then and there in the hallway and then Melany (that´s her name) said, "wow that was beautiful! I can´t wait to see you tomorrow!" MELANY IS SERIOUSLY A MIRACLE! That doesn´t just happen... people don´t usually just come up practically with a sign on them saying, "I would like to be baptized"! But with Melany that´s pretty much what happened! She came to clases de ingles the next day, but her english is practically perfect (in every way:) And so we took her into a different room and she said, "I just want to talk to you! You are both so nice! I will tell you all about me and my story and my family and then I want to hear why both of you are here on missions, why you decided to come here, I want to hear about your families and see pictures, I want to know more about your church and how you came to know it is true". Ok, WOW she is just incredible! We sat in the church talking for about an hour about all of that and at the end of the lesson about the Book of Mormon, we challenged her to read it and she said, "Of course I will read it! I want to know for myself it is true!" We bore our testimonies and at the end she said, "Well, you got me! I´m sold. I think I want to be a member of your church now!" WHAT?!?! Then she said, "So when is the next time I can see you. Could we set up another time to visit?" This lesson threw me for a loop... I couldn´t figure out if she was the missionary or if we were. Hermana Larsen and I both kept looking at each other with the biggest smiles on our faces and every 5 minutes Melany would go, "You know, I have been in spain for about 2 weeks now. Before this I was in Boston Massachusetts and nobody here will smile at me and people aren´t very nice to me. I just love being with you both because you are so happy!" We told her to come to church on sunday and she could meet SO many happy people who will want to be her friend. She said, "Ok, great! I will be there at 8:45am" And guess what?! She was there and stayed for all three hours!!! And then she heard the announcement about stake conference next week and said, "Ok, so next week we will come at 10 and not 9 right? And this is for a conference?" She is seriously just incredible! It made me so happy though to remember that the Gospel is full of so much service. Melany is someone who has felt very alone for a long time in her life and when she came to church and everyone was so nice and then to a members house to eat medio dia with us afterwards she looked at us and said, "I just feel like I am part of a family now and you all make me want to be happy". The Gospel is honestly full of joy and peace and love and it is such a wonderful service that brings all people closer to christ! I love it so so so much!!! Melany is incredible and I can´t wait to keep teaching her!

We had a lesson for medio dia with a member and her mom and her mom told us she has a little bit of depression and it is really sad. We tried to help her and comfort her for about an hour with scriptures and conference talks and advice. But everytime we brought up something new there was always another problem to be mentioned. Her life is definitely really hard, but something Hermana Larsen and I learned from it was that when you feel like you have a lot of problems or hard things in your life just go out and serve someone!!!! It will make everything so much better. I truly believe that missionaries are the happiest people on planet earth because we are constantly trying to serve other people. And the ones who aren´t happy are too focued on themselves. I challenge you all that if you are having a hard time right now (even if you aren´t) find a way to serve someone every single day and don´t focus on yourself. Constantly strive to turn outwards!

Something else I learned was this week in my interview with President Dayton. He and Hermana Dayton are so incredible! They are both working so hard and I love them so much! He challenged the whole mission to start reading the New Testament so that we can start to learn the stories of Christ and know them just as well as we know the Book of Mormon. I am so excited and I feel like it will really help our investigators! Something else he talked about though was charity. I loved the scripture he used in 1 Cor. 13:1-3.

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not
charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all
mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I
could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give
my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest
of these is charity.

We cannot just serve people. If we are feeling sad or lonely or upset or anything else, we can´t just think that going out and serving someone will make everything better. Yes, service is a magic trick, but we have to do it with the right intentions and with TRUE charity in our hearts... That is when we will really come to love others as the Savior did and find joy in every moment of the day! I found this to be true as we helped our sweet friend Jen this week. She has 3 autistic children all under the age of 10 and she doesn´t have a husband. We saw her in the street one day and she told us that they were emergency moving because they didn´t have enough money. So we went over to her house on Friday and helped her clean and pack and we talked to her. Her life is so so so hard. But the incredible thing is that through it all, this cute lady from the Phillipines doesn´t cease to see the little joys and miracles in her life. She said, "You know. This is the hardest thing that has ever happened to me. But I feel so blessed. I know God will make everything work out. And no matter what happens I have my three little angels, my three miracles and that is really all I need to be happy". She is honestly the STRONGEST woman I have ever met. (we texted her a quote from Elder Holland this week and she texted back and goes, "Please send Elder Holland My thanks" hahaha. So if Any of you get a chance this week to see Elder Holland tell him you blessed an investigators life in Spain:) Hermana Larsen and I held her in our arms that night and rocked her back and forth as she just cried and cried because she was so so scared for the future. We shared scriptures and mormon messages with her and by the time we left she was smiling and practically bearing testimony to us. I know that this gospel changes lives. Even though Jen can´t join the church right now, I know the gospel has touched and changed her life. After we left her house Hermana Larsen and I made a goal to never complain again.... we don´t have to. If Jen can do it then we can do it!

I loved this quote from Sister Reeves talk, "Understandably, many have expressed that our Father’s promised blessings are just “way too far away,” particularly when our lives are
overflowing with challenges. But Amulek taught that “this life is the
time … to prepare to meet God.” It is not the time to receive all of
our blessings. President Packer explained, “‘And they all lived
happily ever after’ is never written into the second act. That line
belongs in the third act, when the mysteries are solved and everything
is put right.” However, a vision of our Father’s incredible promised
blessings must be the central focus before our eyes every day--as well
as an awareness “of the multitude of his tender mercies” that we
experience on a daily basis. I do not know why we have the many trials that we have, but
it is my personal feeling that the reward is so great, so eternal and
everlasting, so joyful and beyond our understanding that in that day
of reward, we may feel to say to our merciful, loving Father, “Was
that all that was required?” I believe that if we could daily remember
and recognize the depth of that love our Heavenly Father and our
Savior have for us, we would be willing to do anything to be back in
Their presence again, surrounded by Their love eternally. What will it
matter, dear sisters, what we suffered here if, in the end, those
trials are the very things which qualify us for eternal life and
exaltation in the kingdom of God with our Father and Savior?"

I know that this is true. As we choose to make the gospel the center of our lives and serve other people with true charity in our hearts then we will find true happiness everyday! I am so grateful for the gospel in my life. I know it is true and know that our Savior Jesus Christ is our true source of happiness and peace in this life and forever! En el nombre de Jesucristo, Amén.

Love you all! Have a great week!

In His Due Time

Dear Family and Friends,

I hope everyone had a wonderful week and learned a lot... I know I sure did! This week was a little bit of a roller coaster ride... literally up and down and all over the place! We had so many amazing milagros that I don´t even know where to start. I LOVE working with Hermana Larsen. We were caught in a rainstorm this week and ended up singing broadway songs (with missionary lyrics) as we contacted in the rain. It was so fun! This transfer is really helping me to open my eyes and remember that YES, you are supposed to work hard in missionary work... every minute should be filled with hard work. BUT it should also be FUN and something we absolutely LOVE to do. It is something that President Dayton and I talk about a lot... finding Joy in the work every single day! I love it! Something Hermana Larsen and I always say to each other when we are walking out the door is, "do you have your chapa? Agenda? Libro de Mormon? keys? phone? AND... a Smile?? Ok, we are all set! Let´s keep on smiling and we will go baptize all of Spain together". I love it so much! Honestly being a missionary is just the most rewarding thing in the whole world! Obviously some days are harder than others, but in the end, all of the miracles outweigh the hard times to the point that you can only remember the happy moments and it motivates you to be and do better! I would challenge you all to look for the little pockets of joy in your day - smile more and try everyday to share the gospel with people and I promise that you will see miracles!!

Ok, so about this week... We had a baptism!! Well.... we were supposed to have a baptism. We had a lesson with our ADORABLE pregnant investigator from Dominican Republic... Yahaira. She has been taking the lessons for two years but now it really is her time to be baptized. This lesson that we had with her was on Wednesday and it was Hermana Larsen´s first visit with her. She had a fecha set for Sat Oct. 10th but we weren´t really sure if it would happen since we hadn´t seen her for about a week. We walked in (oh and we had our cute member from Arizona... Maryann... there with us too) and had this INCREDIBLE lesson about baptism. It wasn´t planned out completely because Hermana Larsen and I didn´t know what she exactly needed so we planned for a few different lessons, but the route that we actually ended up taking was even better than anything we could have planned. I know for a fact that it was 100% the spirit. We were sharing scriptures back a forth and testifying and sharing videos on the ipad and Maryann was sharing her thoughts and experiences and Yahaira´s whole face was just lit up with the Spirit the whole time! Then we finally started talking to her about her baptism at the end of the lesson and she goes, "no puedo! Este sabado es muy pronto. Necesito aprender mas sobre esta iglesia antes mi bautismo" (I can´t. This saturday is too soon. I need to learn more about this church before my baptism). That is when I was all the sudden prompted to share a scripture I had found in my personal study that morning...
2 Nefi 9:23. It talks about how we don´t need a perfect knowledge to be baptized... all we need is perfect faith. We reassured Yahaira that she has that perfect faith and then she said, "Son correcto. Quiero ser bautizada este Sábado. Que necesito hacer para preparar por eso?" (I want to get baptized this Saturday - what do I need to do  to prepare?) AHHHHH! We were so excited! I think my jaw literally dropped to the ground! We planned out her whole baptism with her right then and the spirit was so strong! Then she fed us food from Dominican Republic (which was incredible) and then we left! Hermana Larsen and I got out of the building and just stopped and stared at each other. That was such a huge miracle from Heavenly Father and we couldn´t believe it was really happening!! We hurried and called our District Leader and set up and interview with him for her and we called the whole ward to inform them that we would be having a baptism in 3 days! Everyone was so excited! She had her interview the next day and everything was working perfectly and she was so so so excited! Then the morning of the baptism came. We woke up SUPER early to go to the church and clean and fill up the font and when we got there we got a text from Yahaira saying, "my doctor said I need to wait until I have the baby because I could have him at any minute now" which is true... she is HUGE! I think if I touch her stomach she will literally POP! So we understood the text, but we still had faith that she would be baptized. We left the church and RAN to her house. We sat in front of her door knocking and calling for 30 minutes. Finally her husband came out and told us something happened with her baby and she had to go to the hospital SUPER early in the morning to make sure everything was ok. We left the building and walked back to the church pretty sad realizing we would have to cancel the baptism. We called the whole ward and all the missionaries to let them know. It was really really sad and really hard!! That´s my first baptism that has canceled the day of and let me tell you... it was not very fun. BUT the good news is that we saw her last night and she is still really excited to be baptized and still wants to be baptized but she just needs to wait until it is safe enough for her baby. Hermana Larsen and I learned a very important lesson from all of this. Yes, we are here to help others come unto Christ by leading them into the waters of baptism. But more importantly... we are here to do the father´s will. As we submit ourselves to His will and His timing we will be so much happier and everything will work out just how He needs it to. I know this is true with my whole heart and I
can´t wait for Yahaira´s baptism in a few weeks!

REALLY EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!!! ALEX´S WHOLE FAMILY NOW HAS FECHAS!!!!!!! They are all planning to get baptized on November 7th and they are all so excited! I can´t even wait! And the most incredible part is that Alex can baptize them! The lessons we have with them are always amazing and especially with Hermana Larsen here... I think she is just a little "good luck charm" for our area! I love working with her!

We had an incredible lesson last night with our cute little Brazilian, Adriane. She is 17 and ADORABLE!! We
haven´t seen her for about a month because she has been so busy, but we finally went to visit her last night. Her mom and sister weren´t there, but we sat with her and talked for an hour sharing the message of the restoration and she absolutely loved it! Alex came to help us teach her and he was able to share his conversion story about how he was baptized adventista just like Adriane was but now He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and he bore such a powerful testimony about how he knows it is true and couldn´t be happier! Adriane couldn´t stop smiling the whole time! When we challenged her to be baptized she was a little hesitant to accept at first because she has her own church but once Hermana Larsen and I again bore testimony of how we know this church is true she looked at us and said, "I want to learn about it and once I feel something in my heart then I want to be baptized too! Because you are all so happy and I want to be like you!" AW. It was the sweetest thing! The spirit was SO strong. Words honestly cannot describe this moment. I have never felt the spirit so strong in a lesson. This work is incredible! We are so incredibly blessed to have the knowledge of the gospel in our lives! Don´t ever take it for granted!! Share it with everyone you meet! We have been given this gospel in our lives and now it is our opportunity to go forth and share it with everyone we see because we are disciples of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Love you all,
Hermana Allie Eyring

PS We had a lesson with a family this week (members) and Sara (my best little friend who is 5) at the end of her prayer goes, "por favor bendice los peritos, gatos, y pajaritos en el mundo que todo de ellos pueden tener proteccion este noche".  It was about the cutest thing I have ever heard and I felt like I was right at home with Liza and Abby saying their bedtime prayers :)

Don't Walk! Run!

My dear wonderfully incredible family and friends!

Well today is a very sad day as conference has once again come to an end. I wish it could last forever and ever and ever!! BUT the great news is that now for the next six months we get to work on everything that we have been prompted and counseled to do. I can´t wait! Wasn´t conference just amazing? It is funny that even here in Spain all the way across the world and away from my family I could still feel of the sweet conference spirit and it was just as powerful! We got to watch it in English with all of the missionaries here in Barc so that was fun! And it was fun to have a surprise visit from a cute couple from Utah who had both served here in Barc and then got married after their missions! They brought us candy from the states and then watched conference with us! It was so nice of them!

My wonderful new companion, Hermana Larsen, is just absolutely amazing! Sometimes I think we are the same person because we think so much alike. But I love it! She reminds me of all of my close friends and family... she is just incredible and exactly the companion I need to be with this transfer! Every time we have nightly planning or we are in a cita or we are just walking in the streets we just can´t stop talking because we have WAY too much fun together and we both LOVE talking about the gospel and sharing our testimonies with every person we pass. It is practically perfect... in every way! OH that´s another thing... we sing all the time together and it is so fun! We like to write songs about missionary work as we are walking to citas. I can´t remember if I told you this or not but she was supposed to be in Disneyland right now as a disney princess but declined the job offer to come on a mission! So our love for disney is just about the same.

Anyways, this week we saw so many miracles. It was a little difficult because we didn´t have as much time out on the streets as normal because of transfers and general conference, but we still had many milagros! Hence the title... don´t walk! Run! That came from a conference talk from last april that I read this week. We can´t walk and expect to get the Lord´s work done. there is too much to do! So literally this whole week Hermana Larsen and I have been running to everything. I love it because it means we are always busy! Even when we are out contacting, we will finish a contact and then run to the next person to start sharing this incredible message with them.

I want to share three miracle stories with you from this week. The first one is kind of funny, but still a miracle. Hermana Larsen and I were walking to the church when a guy came running up from behind us and was like, "hello sisters" (in english). We realized he didn´t know a lot of english so we continued the conversation in spanish. He said, "I have been looking for the missionaries for 6 months now. They just kind of disappeared. But I would really love a copy of the book your church has and I would also like to get baptized". haha this was Hermana Larsen´s first night here... welcome to Barc where sometimes the people just walk up to us and ask if they can be baptized! Javier was our miracle that night! Unfortunately he lives in the Elders area so we will be passing him over to them, but I am excited for his baptism.

The second milagro was Diana. We were contacting in between citas for a few minutes and had a prompting to talk to this mom with her little boy... so of course we did. We started talking to her and at first she didn´t really want anything and was about to turn away, but then Hermana Larsen and I started testifying back and forth of the Book of Mormon. As soon as we did that her eyes were locked on both of ours. It was one of the most powerful moments I have had yet on my mission. She and her son, David (10), were both very interested. By the end of the conversation she told us that she was so grateful we found her because her dad is now a member of this church in her country (Honduras) but she didn´t know how to find it. Tears came to her eyes as she thanked us for what we were doing. We set up an appointment with her, gave her a book of Mormon and lots of hugs goodbye. she was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met! I can´t wait to teach her this week and I hope she will get baptized soon... along with her son! Wow! Heavenly Father truly is guiding this work!

The last milagro I would like to share is about Jessica. Jessica is Alex´s sister. She is the one who I taught a few weeks ago and challenged her to be baptized and she decided on next June. haha. well we got it a little closer and her date is November 14th. She is excited to learn more but is scared to "become mormon". Yesterday after conference we had a wonderful lesson with her all about the Book of Mormon. Hermana Larsen and I once again bore powerful witness and testimony of this special Book and then challenged her to read it every single night. we had done this before with Jessica, but never before had the spirit been as strong as it was last night in the park. She looked both of us in the eyes and said, "yes. I will read it every night". The best part was that we had Alex there and he bore his testimony of the Book of Mormon and General Conference and said, "we can help each other Jessi. We can remind each other to read every night and even sometimes read together". It was incredible. The influence that members have on investigators is so powerful.

I want you all to know that I have a testimony of this church. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and the fullness of it has been restored to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I love it with my whole heart. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today and He leads and guides this church and will continue to do so until the day He dies. what a perfect example for us to each look up to and follow. I know my savior lives and loves each and every one of us and through His Atonement we can be clean and become better every single day! En el nombre de Jesucristo, Amén.

Love,

SURPRISES!!!

Dear family and friends!

How is everyone doing?! We sure have had a crazy week here in my area
and I can't wait to tell you all about it. I don't have a lot of time,
but I will write as much as I can. So this past week one of the
sisters had to go home so we got put in a trio with Hermana Fenn!! I
was so excited!! She just came out of a hard transfer so our job was
to just have fun and work hard together... Which we did. Trios are
definitely hard, but they are fun at the same time. I learned so much
from both Hermana Lee and Hermana Fenn in this past week! That was
surprise #1! Hermana Fenn is back in her area now (Barc 2) and will be
training this transfer.

Surprise #2 was in zone conference when Hermana Dayton showed the
video of Liza talking to all the missionaries!!!! That melted my
heart! I love her so much! All the missionaries here were dying! Shout
out to Liza Lou... The missionaries think you are going to be the best
missionary ever one day! Zone conference was amazing! President and
Sister Dayton wrote another song for us about encontrar y enseñar
(find and teach) and they made us all write those two words on the
bottom of our shoes... So we can remember what we need to be doing as
we walk around the streets of Spain. I loved zone conference so much!!
It was such a huge motivation to me to be an even better missionary
and strive to trust in my Heavenly Father and Savior everyday!

Surprise #3... TRANSFERS!!!!!!!!!! Transfers happened and I am done
with training... Surprise ;) I am happy to finally be a "trained
missionary" and I'm ready to work hard and lead out an area. Sooooo I
am staying here in Barc 1!! Yay! I don't think I'll ever be able to
leave this area... It's too amazing. Hermana Lee is going to Zaragoza to finish training
Hermana Plant - she will be awesome but I will miss her! My new companion is Hermana LARSEN!!!!!!! Hermana
Larsen and I kind of knew each other before the mission! I picked her
up at the train station this afternoon and it has been non stop fun
since we got together! I love her so much!! She is from Colorado but
her family just moved to Arizona. She is 4th of 6 kids and went to
BYU-I before her mission for a year. She was a dancer before her
mission, loves Disneyland, got hired to be Belle at Disneyland but
chose a mission instead, LOVES her parents (they are her best
friends), loves to sing and write songs, and most importantly LOVES
being a missionary and is SO happy to be here!! Yes. I think we will
get along just fine ;) if you can't tell, I'm a little bit beyond
excited! :) transfers are always hard and a little strange but so so
good and so inspired from our Heavenly Father! I know that this is
where I need to be and who I need to be with and I couldn't be
happier!

Tonight I will be taking a "new-be" out for her first night and she
will stay at our piso :) I already made her a welcome sign and taco
soup...oh also another change.... Hermana wiseman
is going to San Sebastián to OPEN an area AND to TRAIN!!!!!! Wow!!!
She is going to do so great and see so many miracles! I am sad that my
little twin is leaving me but I'm so excited for her! Hermana Bastidas
is now here with Hermana Fernandez and I LOVE her! She is a STL(Sister Training Leader) and so
great :) it will be a fun transfer!

We found out during zone conference that Elder Scott passed away. That
was really hard for me to hear. But then I realized how wonderful it
is that he can be with his sweet wife again. And it is also incredible
to see how the Lord runs this church... Even though we have lost 3
apostles in the past few months, this coming weekend we will all be
able to hear and see 3 new men called of God to continue leading His
church. That is one thing that we teach here in the mission
everyday!!! The lord has not ceased to call prophets and apostles to
guide and direct us and he will continue to do so until the end of
time. What a wonderful blessing that we can all find joy and comfort
in - The prophets and apostles are called of God. I know that without a
shadow of a doubt. We are so so so blessed have them here on the earth
to lead us to know what our Heavenly Father needs us to do. General
conference is this weekend and I couldn't be more excited!!!!!
Although it will be hard not to be there with my wonderful family, I am excited
to watch it here in Spain with members and investigators and see it
change their lives! I challenge all of you to take time to watch all
of the sessions of general conference. Remember that these are the
Words of God and as we listen With open hearts and minds we will find
answers. I challenge you to come up with questions of your heart, pray
before conference starts and then listen and write down your thoughts
and feelings and I PROMISE you that you will receive answers from our
loving father In Heaven.

I love you all so much and hope you have a great week!!!!

Xoxo,
Hermana Eyring
